One Piece Fan Letter Soars to 2024’s Top-Ranked Anime Release

One Piece Fan Letter is an animated adaptation of Straw Hat Stories, a collection of short stories by Tomohito Osaki. It takes place two years after the Paramount War — which resulted in the shocking death of Monkey D. Luffy’s brother, Portgas D. Ace — when the Straw Hat Pirates are on the verge of reuniting at Sabaody Archipelago. A young admirer of Nami is eager to deliver a fan letter to her before the Straw Hat Pirates reunite and depart, unaware of the larger-than-life role that she and the everyday residents of Sabaody Archipelago will play in saving the Straw Hats from a secret weapon by the Marines.

The release of One Piece Fan Letter coincides with the 25th anniversary of the anime series as a whole by Toei Animation, which premiered on Oct. 20, 1999. The special anniversary episode is filled with star-studded talent from the animation industry, such as fan-favorite freelancer Chansard Vincent. “One Piece Fan Letter was so good,” One-Punch Man artist Yusuke Murata said on X (formerly Twitter). “Anime is truly amazing!
