Let’s Go Karaoke! and Captivated, by You Receiving Anime Series

It’s a good time to be mangaka Yama Wayama, because she’s getting not one, but two of her manga adapted into anime! Her titles Captivated, by You (or Muchū sa, Kimi ni. in Japanese) and Let’s Go Karaoke! (or Karaoke Iko! in Japanese) are going to receive anime adaptations “at the same time” from studio Doga Kobo. This comes after Let’s Go Karaoke! already received a live-action adaptation.

Both anime have Asami Nakatani of Yohane the Parhelion -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR in the director’s seat. The person looking over series scripts is Yoshimi Narita, whose credits include Twilight Out of Focus and Dance Dance Danseur. The music is being composed by Takurō Iga, who is known for working on the very popular Oshi no Ko.

Two visuals were also released for the upcoming series.

Each of these manga are published in America by Yen Press. Yen Press gave this description for Captivated, by You:

Captivated, by You Plot

Hayashi’s frank, guileless demeanor quietly draws the attention of classmates and strangers as he counts all the stairs in school, photographs street signs, and dries sweet potatoes on the classroom balcony. In a world shaped by conformity, Hayashi is refreshingly and unapologetically true to himself. Conversely, Nikaidou has worked very hard to perfect a gloomy, dour façade that keeps his classmates far, far away. While much of the school regards Nikaidou as a bad omen, one student catches a glimpse behind the mask and-undeterred by rumors of bad luck and supernatural powers-begins to pick away Nikaidou’s carefully crafted persona…

Yen Press gave this description for Let’s Go Karaoke!:

The boss is holding a karaoke contest, with the loser forced to get a tattoo to be selected and torturously applied by the boss himself! Oka has been to many vocal rehearsals over the years, but never one-on-one karaoke sessions with a gangster!!
